“For the Son of Man must die, as the Scriptures declared it long ago. But how terrible it will be for the one who betrays him. It would be far better for that man if he had never been born!” (Mark 14:21)
How often do we wish we had never been born? It depends on your self esteem.
There are dozens of books, and countless films which have used this notion. Starting with Dickens’ Christmas Carol. What would the world be like without you? Who would notice?
You’d be surprised. There are hundreds of encounters between humans every day. If you live in a city, that number will be in the thousands. Perhaps there is a remote island with only one person living on it? But for the majority of us, we live in a crowded place.
And whether we like it or not we have an impact. We make a difference. It might not seem like much, but it is. It’s unavoidable. A casual smile to someone who needed it. A held door for someone who was finding it a bit difficult. Little things. Almost inconsequential. They all add up.
And then there’s those big things we do. Those decisions which change our lives and those around us for ever. Are we making them for the right reasons? How do we know?
All life is important and valuable. We all have something to contribute and something to say.
So, the stage is set…
It’s your cue…
