“We are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace.” (1 Chronicles 29:15 NLT)
On a day when the news from Iraq seems to be unrelenting terror and torture for Christians, where is our God?
On a day after a plane is brought down by persons unknown to crash in flames in a field in the Ukraine. And some reports say that some people have been taking things from the crash site before it could be secured.
When the news is filled with such despair, where is hope?
Perhaps this is not the time to be asking God why these things happen. Perhaps it is time to reflect and grieve.
And when time has passed, we should look for comfort in the words of our Lord.
We are all here for a moment. What we leave behind are memories and footprints. May those memories bring a smile to the ones who follow. And may the footprints lead others to the right path.
