“Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give some of the manna that has been hidden away in heaven. And I will give to each one a white stone, and on the stone will be engraved a new name that no one understands except the one who receives it. (Revelation 2:17 NLT)
The churches which are referred to are the seven churches which were build around the Cities in the ancient kingdom.
This chapter talks about the rewards from heaven. In this verse the reward is manna. We already know that manna was fed to the Israelites when they were wondering in the wilderness.
But I’m most interested in the white stone. Marble? Or a pebble? And the name on it. Only understood by the person who receives it?
If it’s a marble stone, that implies a gravestone. Which means the name on it is the name of someone who has died. But that someone is only known to one person?
If it’s a pebble, then that begs the question, “why?” What is the significance of a pebble?
More questions than answers today. C’est la vie!
