It seems that almost every year, as Christmas draws near and the shops are filled with glittering goodies, the world stops for a heartbeat.
Yesterday in the Indian city of Peshawar gunmen stormed into a school and murdered 132 children and 9 teachers.
It feels entirely appropriate, therefore, that I am concentrating on the Book of Revelation. The writer, John, is talking about how the end of days will come.
To begin with, the angels will blow their trumpets and each of the seven trumpet blows brings a unique terror. It’s an interesting few verses. On a normal day I would share the whole thing.
But this is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a normal day.
“When the Lamb broke the seventh seal on the scroll, there was silence throughout heaven for about half an hour. (Revelation 8:1 NLT)”
And my thoughts and prayers are with all those who have lost family and friends in the Peshawar school.
And may the full fury of the might of Almighty God be brought down on the souls of the monsters who would consider this atrocity.
